Getting rid of ants is a major issue for most homeowners. For an ant free home, you need to remove the nest of the entire colony. Removing the nest is not so easy if you do not have the basic knowledge about ants.

Pest control in Castle Cove deals with different species of ants that are found in Australia and they are mainly:-

Black ant

Black ants prefer nesting in walls, voids and in the cavities of roof. They love to feed on sugar. You can identify them by their glossy black colour.

Controlling method: Sugar bait and powder treatment.

White footed ant

White footed ants love to nest in kitchens and bathrooms. Like the black ants they are not so glossy but have a dull black colour. They generally move in multi lanes.

Controlling method:  They have multiple nests and queens, and are hard to control. Direct spray of insecticide is the best method for controlling them.

Big headed ant

These are outdoor ants which can be found in lawns and pavement. They live in multiple colonies of nests and love to excavate. They feed on protein and oil.

Controlling method: Granular baits are useful on nests, while excavation can be treated with sand or insecticide granule.

Tyrant ant

Tyrant ants are also common in lawn and pavements. They move fast and are aggressive with meagre sting. They love to feed on sugar and protein.

Controlling method: Nest can be treated with ant baits or insecticide granules.

Green headed ant

They are found in lawns and garden. They prefer protein as their meal and are generally aggressive with excruciating stings.

Controlling method: Granular ant baits.

General process of ant control

An ant treatment can be executed effectively if you maintain these five points:
Thoroughly inspect your building and its surrounding area. Locate the nest and breeding site.

Once you find them verify the specimen and treat them accordingly.

To remove them completely try to use the treatment directly on their nests. Do not forget to spray the surrounding areas as they will find a way to escape. Use the baits appropriately where sprays and powders cannot be used.

Clean up the food sources and maintain good hygiene by cleaning the floors regularly.

Regular or weekly treatment may be required for severely infested areas.

It is recommended that you hire a pest control service because then the treatment job would be done at its best.
