How to Clean Your Favourite Sofa – Part 1

by Aaron Clifford Author

Are you angry when you come back home and find your sofa has a big, nasty stain? If you are willing to commit a crime after seeing this, then you should calm down and have a look at the following lines. In this first part you can find some really useful tips on how to clean your favourite sofa.

Try not to eat when you sit on the sofa. This is really a bad habit, which you have to avoid. If you really do not have space for eating and the sofa is the only option, make sure you cover it with a rag, for example. However, if you can not find a proper rag to cover the furniture, remember do remove the crumbs using a brush or a vacuum cleaner with a proper extension. Cleaning your house regularly reduces the possibility of heavy stains on your favourite sofa. If you have recently moved to your new house and you need professional help, I advise you to book your expert after builders cleaning London services. However, if you can not afford this service, you can do the cleaning by yourself, of course. Again, try not to eat while sitting on your sofa.

Watching a football game at home is a really bad experience for you furniture. Everybody knows a person who just can not stop drinking. In such cases sofas get stained. Beer is one of the most consumed beverages worldwide. Removing beer stains is not an easy task. Often patience is the best solution for these stains. Sponge the stain with rubbing alcohol. Take a soap and start rubbing. Note that if you rub too much, the fibres might get weakened. Some fabrics lose their colour because of heavy rubbing. Always apply cleaning solution on small areas, just to prevent unexpected results. Wait for the spot to dry. I recommend you to use a nail brush. Another approach is to dampen a clean cloth with cold water and apply to the stain.

Sofas can get really bad-looking ink stains. It is crucial to act as soon as you spot the stain. Quickly moisten the ink with rubbing alcohol. Get a pack of cotton. Make several cotton balls and apply them to the ink, so that they soak the ink. Remove a ball when it is fully soaked. You should dry the spot then it is fully cleaned. A friend of mine, who works as a professional cleaner at a after builders cleaning London company, advised me to use nail polish to remove really stubborn ink spots. Moisten a cotton ball or a rag and gently rub the place, until the spot disappears. If you sofa is made of leather, get a leather cleaner and clean the sofa thoroughly. That way you surely remove any remaining alcohol or nail polish traces.

I hope you find the tips useful. Glad to see you again in Part 2.
