A fence can define your home in many ways, so picking the right one is a tough decision. There are many factors and here's what you should consider before buying a fence.

1. Purpose of the fence

First of all, it's very important to know why you put up a fence. It can actually work in many ways but knowing why you need will help you make the best choice.

2. Your budget

If you don't want to spend a ton of money on a fence, then pick a material that is not that expensive. Another factor is that if it's, say, a white picket fence, you will need to repaint. Which of course takes time and costs money.  

3. Where will you position it

Of course it makes such a difference if you place the fence in the front yard. You can change the whole look of your house with a beautiful fence. But if you want a it for your backyard you don't need to buy the most stunning one in the world.  

4. Maintenance

After you've determined the purpose of your fence, now you need to choose the right height. If you put up a fence for privacy reasons it needs to be 5 to 6 feet tall. If you need it to make your house more beautiful and appealing, then it should be about 1 to 2 feet tall.  

7. Use flowers

If you want to make your home even more welcoming, place flowers in front of the fence. This will add colour and all guests and neighbours will enjoy looking at it.

It's become modern in the last years and for a reason. It's mostly used around pool areas. It's really convenient because you can still enjoy the sun and the view but there is no wind. And it's still secure.  

2. Security fence

This is one of the main reasons why people put up fences. This type of fence should be tall and without rails since they might help any intruders to climb up.  

3. Dog fence

If your dog likes to dig, then make sure your fence goes deeper in the ground. If your pet likes to jump then buy a higher fence.

4. Flower fence

It looks so beautiful. It does need extra care and maintenance though. This type won't protect you from burglars so putting this fence is really up to your neighbourhood's safety status.
