How To Check Originality Of Yellow Sapphire?

You can test the originality and quality of pukhraj in 4 ways:

Milk test : Put pukhraj in milk for 24 hours, here keep one thing in mind that milk should not be adulterated or tainted. After keeping te stone in milk for a day , if it does not change its color that means pukhraj stone is original and of good quality

Sunlight Test: This test can be used to test the yellow sapphire at first place. You can easily use it at the shops, without any hassles. Just place the yellow sapphire exposed to sunlight and keep a pure white handkerchief or white cloth ahead of it. Pukhraj will give a sharp yellow tint/hue to the spot where it reflects the light. If you observe a very dim or light shade of yellow, it means the yellow sapphire is likely to fail the Milk test also, as it lacks in originality.

Bubble Test: Pukhraj is totally different from all other gemstones. If light yellow colored pukhraj has small bubble it means it is fake. But this test does not gurantee its originality.

The Facets Test : This will check whether the stone is original or just imitated by yellow glass. Scientifically glass can easily cut as it is not as rigid as sapphire. Also glass has smooth and curvy edges whereas Original pukhraj has more complex cuts that are sharp and crusty.
