If your computer is attached to an Ethernet network, it must have IP address which is assigned automatically by DHCP. To change your IP Address on Windows 7 computer, you will have to open the Network and Sharing Center window. However, you are entitled to configure your PC to use its own IP address. Open the Network and Sharing Center window

Go to the right side of the window

Here you will get the opportunity to choose the link Local Area Connection

Open the Status dialog box

Click on the Properties button

Select Internet Protocol Version 4 now

Click on the Properties button again

Use the Following IP Address is the next thing you are supposed to choose

Now you need to type the IP address and a Subnet Mask

The recommended value is 255.255.255.0

Typing the default gateway address is suggested to you now  

Type the address of the preferred DNS server

Plus, type the address for the alternative DNS server

Close the Internet Protocol Version 4 Properties dialog box

Plus, close the windows and other open dialog boxes
