How to Become Corporate Advocate in India

India's economy is thriving day by day over the past few years. At the same time, many MNCs and TNCs have been setting up their business across the country. Well, in order to do well, the MNCs and TNCs certainly need a learned advisor, so that they can navigate smoothly through the legal system of India. 

These advisors or Corporate Lawyers advice various companies and businesses to comply with rules, acts and corporate laws as directed by the legal system of India.  They also make sure the respective business acts lawfully during any kind of merger, acquisition, or while setting any kind of joint ventures within the country. 

Corporate law in India incorporates media law, tax laws, real estate law, and other laws which are needed for running a business. And, a corporate lawyer has to make sure that the company he/she works for, never goes wrong in legal area. 

Process to become a Corporate Lawyer in India

First of all, it is very necessary to determine that you have the interest and skills to be a corporate lawyer or any kind of lawyer. This is because, the study is quite extensive and you need to have strong analytic skills, good communication skills, as well as interest in business politics. 

Once you know that you have got the skills, talent and above all interest in this area, prepare hard for getting into a good law college. If you want to go to a government college then you have to appear for CLAT exam, (for BA L.L.B) held every year, in the month of April-May across the country. 

Once you get a decent rank, you get allotted to one of the 19 National Law Universities (NLUs) present in different cities of India. 

You can also enroll in various private colleges, or university like Symbiosis, etc., by appearing as well as passing their entrance exams.

Third, option is to do BA L.L.B course from any university like Delhi University, Lucknow University etc. 

Bachelors of Law or BA L.L.B is generally an integrated five year course, taught in all the 19 NLUs. You can also opt for a 3 year course, then do specialization or post-graduation in Corporate Law from a good college. 

Well, which ever path you choose to go, you must know one thing, that it is quite different and competitive to get through a decent/ reputed law college. So, make sure you are prepared well for the entrance exams
