How to Insert Videos to PowerPoint Presentations?

To add videos to your PowerPoint presentation, you need to ensure that your Office suite has been updated to the most recent version.

How to insert video directly from the computer?

The process to add a video to your PowerPoint presentation from a file on the system is rather easy.

Step 1: Select the slide

You need to start by opening the presentation and going to the slide in which you wish to insert the video. You may change the order of the slide as and when you want.

Step 2: Choose the video

Now, on the slide, go to the Insert tab at the top and choose the option called Movie. Select Movie from File and then choose the video you want to add.

Step 3: Format the video

After inserting the video, you can tweak it. You can set it on auto-play or manual play, select the thumbnail, add borders and visual effects. After making all the changes, play the slideshow to ensure that it’s perfect.

How to insert video from YouTube?

In case the video file is not on the device, then you can embed it from YouTube. However, you must keep in mind that the instructions mentioned below can only be applied to Windows PC.

Step 1: Select the Slide

Well, first you have to open the PowerPoint presentation and go to the slide you wish to add the video to. You may change the order of the slides whenever and however you want.

Step 2: Locate the YouTube video

Well just go to YouTube and find the video you want to add. Click on the Share button and then select Embed. Now, just uncheck any suggestions, and note down the code shown on the screen.

Step 3: Add the video

Go back to the presentation and move to the Insert tab. Choose Video and select Online Video. If you have an old PowerPoint version, then click on Video from Website. Just type the code in the next prompt. Apart from YouTube, you can also insert videos from other online platforms.

Step 4: Format the video

Go to the Playback tab to select if you want the video to start playing automatically or after clicking on it. You can select the thumbnail, add borders and effects.

How to Insert Videos into Google Slides?

In case you are using Google Slides to create the presentation, then follow the steps given below to add a video:

First, move to the slide on which you want to add the video.
Now, click on the Insert option at the top.
Choose the Video option.
Now, you can find the video from YouTube, add a YouTube link, or choose a video from the Drive.
Select the video you want to add.

You can reposition the video however you want. You can even drag the video’s corner to change its size. Right-click on it to get more options for formatting the video.
