To avoid stains on grout, you should seal it every year with a good quality grout sealant. And if you haven’t sealed it, here are a few tips for cleaning your muddied grout –

  • Prepare a thick (toothpaste-like) paste combining hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. You can replace hydrogen peroxide with water.
  • Apply this paste over grout lines, and allow it sit there for a 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Now, dip toothbrush into water or scrubber, and scrub it over the grout. This will clean the stains off grout lines.
  • Wash the grout lines with clean, fresh water.
  • Wipe and dry the grout lines with a clean cotton cloth.

If this doesn’t work, you can consider using a commercial-grade grout cleanser.

You should clean tiles after removing dirt and stains from grout lines.

  • Mix hot water, vinegar, and mild dish wash detergent. Take this mixture into a spray bottle.
  • Spray it over stains on the tiles of your shower wall.
  • Let it sit there for a few minutes.
  • Now, take a cleaning sponge, and rub the stains dipping it into the mixture or spraying the mixture over them.
