How to Access Advanced Startup Options in Windows 8 or 10?

The Advanced startup Menu gives access to several options on how to start Windows 8. It also helps in fixing various issues by giving access to repair and diagnostics tools. In the earlier version of Windows 8, you can easily access the advanced startup menu by pressing F8, but in Windows 10, the feature has been removed this feature. Six ways to Access Advanced Startup Options in Windows 8 or 10:

Process 1 – Open the Advanced Startup menu

This is the best way to reach the Startup menu, and you should just press the Shift button on your keyboard during the Restart option. Now, you will see the Advanced Startup menu on your screen.

Process 2 – Settings Menu

  • First of all, go to Windows 10, press the Start logo, and select the Settings option pursued by Update and Security.
  • On Windows 8, you should swipe through right-hand side to launch Charms bar.
  • Then you have to choose Change PC settings.
  • Select Update and Recovery in the left-hand side list.
  • Go to the left-hand side options list and select Recovery.
  • Thereafter find Advanced startup option at the lower side of the options list on the right-hand side.
  • You have to choose restart now option.
  • Now, you have to wait until a notification stating  ‘Please wait’ appears and the Startup options launch.

Process 3 – Shutdown by Command

  • Get started by launching Command Prompt on Windows 8 or 10.
  • There is another way to launch Run without ‘cmd.’
  • Save the open documents or you might lose them.
  • You have to apply the given command: ‘shutdown /r /o.’
  • Then choose Close near to ‘You’re about to be signed out’ notification that shows some seconds later.
  • While the screen stays still, Windows will shut and you will view a ‘Please wait for the message.’
  • Wait for a bit while the Startup options appear.

Process 4:

Boot from the Windows 8 or 10 Installation Media

If you want to boot from the Windows 8 or 10 installation media, then pursue the instructions given below.

  • To get started, insert a Windows 8 or 10 flash drive or DVD in the PC that has the files for Windows installation.
  • After that, you should choose one between boot from the USB device or boot from the disc.
  • Go to Windows Setup and choose Next.
  • You should select Repair computer on the lower side of the screen.
  • Now, Advanced Startup will start.

Process: 5

Boot through a Windows 8 or 10 Recovery Drive

  • Firstly, you have to insert Windows 8 or 10 Recovery Drive in a free USB port.
  • After that, you should boot the computer from the flash drive.
  • Go to ‘Choose your keyboard layout’ window, choose the U.S or any other keyboard layout you want to use.
  • Now, Advanced Startup Options should start immediately.

Process 6:

Boot Directly into the Advanced Startup Options

  • First and foremost, you should turn on or reboot the PC.
  • After that, select the boot tab for ‘Advanced Startup,’ ‘System Recovery,’ and ‘Recovery’ etc.
  • Now, you have to wait until the Advanced Startup Options start.
