How necessary is it to have Accreditation as a Professional Life Coach?

by Dillon Patterson Article Publisher

Do you wish to become a professional life coach? You may have heard people saying that the time and money spent on acquiring a professional life coaching certificate is not mandatory in the field.

This is changing…

Read on to ascertain for yourself whether or not you should go for an accredited coach training program.

Earning Potential

There are plenty of life coaches out there who quit the profession as they are not earning enough to make their ends meet, or as much as they thought they would.

Research conducted by Coaching Sherpa, suggests proficient life coaches who have undergone professional life coach training and have certifications and professional accreditation make more income than life coaches who don’t. Moreover, they become successful more quickly.

Other research conducted by the School of Coaching Mastery points out that 80.6% of all life coaches desire to be more successful in their field with certification and accreditation. These coaches don’t want to lose potential client respect from no life coach training certification and/or life coach training accreditation.

Trust and Reputation

One thing that clients look for when they want to hire a new life coach is accreditation. It is one of the factors that distinguish a well trained coach from a coach who is just good at marketing. One excellent organization is The International Authority for Professional Coaching & Mentoring. And in surveys conducted by the International Coach Federation, time and again, coaches state unqualified individuals, the so-called coaches, as the main problem facing the professional coaching industry.

Accreditation provides a better Representation of being a Professional Coach to the Public

There are for sure good uncertified coaches out there, but the public can’t make out who the real ones are, this is why accreditation is important, to protect the public.

When people don’t have a good referral from someone they trust, they choose to go for accredited coaches. Accreditation serves as a stamp or endorsement from a trusted organization.

Clients care about Accreditation

Although some life coaches might say clients don’t care about life coach training certification or life coach training accreditation, it is not true. 84% of genuine coaching clients said coaching certifications were "important" or "very important" to them in a survey conducted by the International Coach Federation. Clients almost always want you to be certified.

The numbers may vary from country to country. In Latin America, 91% of the general public said certification is important.

Coaches want to get Certified, Recognized, Accredited Life Coach Training

Most likely, you too would also want to be known as a certified, accredited coach. The International Authority of Professional Coaching & Mentoring professional code of conduct is perhaps the highest in the coach training industry, go to their website to read this here - https://coach-accreditation.services/professional-standards/code-of-professional-conduct/

It may become a Legal Requirement Soon

It may soon become a legal obligation to get certified and accredited to become a professional coach, as the International Regulator for Coaching & Mentoring is now growing - https://ircm-cic.org/

Professional Coaching is a new booming industry. Accreditation means that we are a profession, individuals within that should be professional, as all trades should have governing bodies. This helps to develop:
