Mid 1990’s opened the use of internet for public which was till then largely limited for the academia and corporations. The advent of internet brought great opportunity for everyone to communicate easily and swiftly. ISP’s (Internet Service Providers) provided the opportunity to communicate to friends, family and businesses through emails. But, ISP based emails had one big limitation that the user’s access to the email account was limited to the ISP provider only and if the provider was changed the email account also ceased to exist. Also, the account could become inaccessible at any point of time when the ISP’s servers weren’t reachable or had any technical problem.

The launch of Hotmail, the free web based email service on 4th July, 1996 the American Independence Day, revolutionized the way people could communicate digitally. Hotmail was free of restrictions imposed by the service providers or location bindings for usage as Hotmail’s web based email could be accessed from anywhere and everywhere on the globe by using the internet.

Hotmail was fast, free and secure way to send or receive emails without requiring any particular technical expertise or knowledge of complex configuration settings of the ISP based emails. Getting more that 8 million users within the first year of its launch was a valid proof of the power of Hotmail in that era. Hotmail was reliable and easily usable without requiring much from the end user and hence its popularity kept on increasing making it highly desirable even for technology giant like Microsoft Technology which finally acquired Hotmail. The only disadvantage of using the web based email service was the lack of technical support available when needed as compared to great technical support provided by the ISP providers. However, with the passage of time credible solution has come up in the form of Hotmail Help Number which can be used in case one needs technical assistance.

The internet has grown at least 100 times from the time it was opened for public use two decades ago and so have evolved the various services, products and needs of people. While in all these years Hotmail has increased its user base to 400 million other prominent email service called the Gmail came and took every rival service for a ride. This amazing web based email service started after a decade of the launch of Hotmail has a whooping user base of 1 billion active user accounts in just ten years. It provides larger storage and attachment size, faster speed, comprehensive security of the accounts along with various options to customize the account and make it look flashy and beautiful. Although being a web based email service users sometimes face technical issues in using Gmail too for which they can seek assistance at Gmail Support Number at any point of time the issue arises.

Although, Microsoft being a brand in technology hasn’t left any stone unturned in making its Hotmail as effective and popular as other email service providers but it couldn’t provide very credible solution till a couple of years ago and experimented with many things like Windows Live Mail, Outlook, etc. but the most effective has been the most recent avatar of Hotmail in the form of Outlook.com.

The Outlook.com has all the features of a killer service and provides great customization options along with the freedom to migrate your current mail to Outlook.com. It also provides you with unique feature to edit office documents online and send them directly from there.

Communication has changed a lot since the advent of Hotmail and Gmail and is still changing very fast with the passage of every day. The focus being on providing better and faster service to the end users. The healthy competition between various service providers opens up new avenues for providing much better and faster service and who knows in the near future Gmail also might come up with something more fascinating than its existing email service to turn up the heat in the race.
