by Alice Thomas Writer
Pelvic pain is quite common during pregnancy. As your pregnancy progresses, not only you can see your baby grow inside you with the help of a private ultrasound scan, but also your uterus grows from the outside to accommodate the baby.

There are several causes of pelvic pain during pregnancy. Your body keeps preparing itself for the delivery of the baby. All these changes lead to pain in many places. But some of the most common reasons for pelvic pain are:
    • When there is a growth spurt in the fetus and the uterus.
    • When there is inflammation and pain due to movement of the joints during pregnancy.
    • When there is pressure from the baby’s increasing weight.
    • When your body releases the secretion of the hormone that results in the softening of the ligaments.

In order to deal with the pain, you should know to differentiate between pelvic pain and some other kinds of pain. You should know the difference so that you would that the pain is serious enough to visit a private ultrasound scan clinic for a check-up. You can differentiate by knowing the difference by the common locations where pelvic pain can occur.
    • The center of your pubic bone.
    • Your lower back
    • In your perineum
    • In your thighs
    • The round ligament

Once you know that it is pelvic pain you are dealing with, you can take some steps to reduce or treat this pain. You can give yourself in any way that can help you feel painless. Do remember that not all of these will work for you. Try the one that suits you the best.
    • Try exercising in water. While you experience strain on your joints, during swimming, the buoyancy of the water will allow you to feel weightless and painless.
    • Physiotherapy often works wonders for many. Try doing that for your stomach, pelvic floor, hip muscles, and back.
    • Use a pregnancy belt or pelvic support belt to get relief from pain.
    • Always wear flat or maternity shoes.
    • You can also use an ice pack on your pelvic joints to reduce swelling.
    • If it hurts too much, take a rest as much as possible. Don’t push yourself too much.

There are several ways to get relief from this pain. But keep in mind that if you think your pain is persisting, contact your doctor and get a private ultrasound scan in Watford.
