With the increasing population and number of vehicles, traffic on the road is something that you can't avoid. This is more so in case you work from 9 to 5 shifts. However, there are things that you can do to minimize the traffic congestion on the road.

Here's how you can help:

  • Easy on the brakes

You should be attentive on the road and pay attention to the drivers and cars that are in front of you. Whenever you see a car in front of you hitting the brake every second, try driving slow to avoid congestion. Also, you should follow the traffic rules and be attentive to the traffic control barriers that are used.

When you're in the middle of start-stop traffic, you should drive slowly, rather than hitting the brakes every now and then to avoid collision and accidents

  • Don't surge ahead

Now, this is as important as giving your brake a break. This means that you should avoid speeding up whenever you see a tiny clearance in the congestion. Why? Because you'll have to slow down and use your brake very soon to keep the start-stop traffic pattern alive. Also, this will make the other drivers follow you and again they too will have to brake suddenly. Try to drive slowly when in heavy traffic as it will help you not to overlook traffic control equipment used like water filled traffic barriers.

  • Give yourself space

Driving fast in heavy traffic will not help you in reaching your destination faster. So relax and take your time. Give yourself space when driving so that the next car too gives you room. This will help you decide on the speed and whether or not to use breaks.

  • Drive a different route

So you know the route that has the highest traffic congestion? Well, then why not to avoid it? To minimize the congestion, you can take a different route when possible. Also, you can try to drive during the less busy time, in case you've an option. Traffic safety mirrors are also used and they too can help you to drive better and reduce the traffic congestion.

You can play your part by being a thoughtful and educated driver. Always follow the traffic rules and do not be in a hurry. Try to plan ahead when you need to drive on the road.
