Hosting the Under 17 World Cup would be a defining moment for Indian football
The nation was into its celebratory mode, when the Praful Patel, the AIFF president mentioned that hosting the Under 17 world Cup, would be a defining moment, for the Indian football. To a large extent, it might also seal the fate, for the road that lies ahead. It would indeed be interesting to see, how India takes this challenge.It was a euphoric moment for India, as it won the rights to host the Under 17 Football World Cup, under the AIFF President Praful Patel. The hype soon caught the attention of the paparazzi, to which the president replied, “Winning the right to host the U-17 FIFA World Cup in 2017 was a lesser challenge. The bigger challenge of actually hosting the showpiece lies ahead.” Probably, every Indian would be of the same opinion, is what we would like to believe. Patel also said that it would take Indian football, to another level. He further articulated that it was not about the rankings right now. The challenge was to ensure that the Under 17 World Cup in India was a major success, for which the platform has already been laid. The prestigious event shall decide the fate of the Indian football, for the decades to come. It will also be important, to train the youngsters in conducive environment, motivate them and propel them to achieve nothing, but excellence.
At a coveted event, Patel also mentioned that the youngsters who will don the Indian jersey, will be provided with the best of facilities. When asked about the future preparations for the World Cup, Patel said, “We may convert one of our Academies into a Team dedicated for the U-17 World Cup in 2017. We will send Youth Teams to more exposure trips abroad to have a feel of how the top countries around the Globe play. As far as the venues are concerned, we will not compromise as we are in no position to do that. FIFA is very strict with venues and only the best Stadia will host the World Cup.”
Recollecting the events, India left behind Uzbekistan and South Africa, to finally get the green signal from the FIFA’s executive committee. The whole event took place, at the Resort Town of Costa Do Sauipe in Brazil. The NCP Leader also thanked the FIFA committee for realizing the growth potential that India has in reserve. He further assured that there would be seasoned campaigners working on the techniques and fitness of the young players, who seem to be very promising. He also spoke about the Indian football stadiums and the need to enhance their infrastructure, thereby, brings them at par with the FIFA standards.
