Honda Looks to Produce Its Own Version of the Acura NSX
In recent years, The Acura NSX has been one of America’s most desired cars. Its unique and futuristic design helps it to stand out even among more expensive sports cars. NSX stands for New Sports car eXperimental. Lately, there have been rumors of a cheaper version of the car being made and sold through Honda. This move could help the car to dominate the competitive sports car market in an even more impressive, expansive way.
A Brief History
The original Acura NSX has always been known for its cutting-edge look and ability to maintain value over the years. The first NSX was released in 1990 and is widely considered one of the most influential and reliable sports cars in recent history. Many of them are still running today, despite having run for well over 100,000 miles. Their lack of technical difficulty has made the name even more respected among car collectors and drivers alike.
The Honda NSX
Honda’s NSX, also known as the “Baby NSX” is going to be sold in the United States as a Honda car rather than an Acura one. This is easy to understand for a couple of reasons. Americans value Honda as reliable, affordable manufacturer. Furthermore, the rebranding of the NSX could potentially lead more people to investing in the NSX; a result which would be positive for both Acura and Honda alike.
Main Differences
The main differences between the Acura and the Honda are found in the ways of interior power and luxury. The same design will be used for both cars, but the powertrain will be less expensive. Additionally, it’s rumored to have a turbocharged four-cylinder engine rather than the V6 in the Acura counterpart.
While car collectors and nostalgic drivers alike wait for the new NSX, the Honda version should be able to carry its own. With that in mind, however, it’s unlikely that any followup NSX model will ever come close to competing with the majesty of Acura’s original or subsequent NSX models.
