A high quality surround system can help you take your home entertainment to the next level. Watching TV shows, movies and playing games are a whole new experience with these systems adding life to your videos and audio. Cutting edge technology in audio-visual industry has led to the designing of surround systems that can distribute sound uniformly throughout the room and giving a unique experience to the viewers. Basically, two types of surround systems are available in the market, 5.1 system and 7.1 system. Here are a few tips for installing the right surround system for your home:
Position of the speakers: Depending on the type of surround system you choose (5.1 or 7.1) you can go for five or seven speakers. You should start with selecting the location for speakers and subwoofers. Ideally, it is a good option to place one speaker right opposite to the system and the others can be placed at different locations around the room.
Check the labels: Before you install the speakers make sure you have checked their labels. A speaker with a “centre” label should be placed at the centre opposite the main system. On the other hand, speakers with labels that read “left” or “right” should be placed left and right of the system respectively. If you are planning to install in-wall or In-Ceiling Speakers make sure you make the use of speaker mounting kits. Check to see if the screws are attached properly to the speakers and offer them the necessary support.
Check before installation: Make sure that you have tested and checked the speakers for any issues before installing them. Examine each speaker individually with a CD or DVD before mounting them on the wall or ceiling. Once you have installed them use the same source to re-examine the speaker to ensure that the speaker has been properly installed.
Understand the wiring and other components of the system: It is important to have a clear understanding of the wiring system before you start the installation. Also, you should be familiar with the different components of the system prior to the installation process. Carefully go through the user manual to get information about the different wires. In case of any doubt it is recommended to contact the manufacturer or take the help of a local technician.
Position of the subwoofer: For a high quality sound it is important that you place the subwoofer in the right location. The size of the room and the position of the subwoofer play a great role in determining the performance of the subwoofer. Placing it in the corner gives the gives the highest bass level.
