If you have someone in your family who is unhealthy and whose care has been taken from home or a private facility managed by a nonprofessional caregiver or a family member then there are some medical equipments that are required and are very much helpful. Home medical equipments are also referred to as Durable medical equipments (DME). These are intended to be used repeatedly by the caregiver or patient, and are very appropriate to be used at home.

Medical supplies like bandages, rubber gloves and irrigating kits are not considered as DME. Following are some DMEs and their uses:

Air Purifier:

An air purifier removes contaminants from the air in a room and is very beneficial to patients suffering from asthma, allergies etc. The air purifiers can remove dust, pollen, pet dander, mold spores and dust mite feces which can act as triggers for allergies to some patients. It is a basic home medical device which is used medically, commercially and industrially.

Cannula:

It is very important home medical equipment for blood glucose monitoring by people suffering from hypoglycemia. It is a simple device which is easy to use, a small drop of blood obtained from body by piercing is put on the disposable strip which meter reads and displays the level of glucose in blood.

Pulse Oximeter:

It is a device which is used to monitor a person’s oxygen saturation. It is a safe, convenient and noninvasive method for measuring oxygen saturation. You can get a Pulse Oximeter from many online websites. In most Pulse Oximeters, a sensor device is placed on the thin part of patient’s body such as fingertip or earlobe so these are also called as Finger Pulse Oximeter. One can get this DME from the website and use for a patient being cared at home.
