Here Is What You Can Expect from MCU’S Black Widow Origin Story

There have been a lot of rumors regarding Marvel’s upcoming movie, “Black Widow.” In the new movie, Black Widow is going to be seen handing the baton to a new character, Yelena Belova, played by Florence Pugh. Director Cate Shortland, in an interview with the Empire magazine, had hinted that Scarlett Johansson’s time playing the Black Widow is coming to an end, and the new movie is now going to serve as a launching base for Florence Pugh’s character in the Marvel world.

A Much-Needed Closure

Black Widow will also grace the fans with a much-needed closure over Natasha Romanoff’s death in “Avengers Endgame.” A vast majority of the viewers were really upset over the fact that Natasha didn’t get a fitting funeral in Endgame. Her death wasn’t nearly as big a moment as Tony Stark’s death in the movie. Fans argue that she didn’t get her big moment of sacrifice like Iron Man did later in the movie. Scarlett, however, begs to differ in her views. She believes that Natasha wouldn’t have wanted a funeral in the first place. Her character is extremely private, and most people don’t know much about her. Johansson said that the movie would let her death be marked by the grief felt by the individuals rather than a big dramatic moment.

Black Widow was originally set to release nationwide on the first of May, but owing to the pandemic, it has been pushed to the sixth of November. Looking at the circumstances, however, we can’t really be sure about any set date as of now.

Origins of a Super Soldier

The dramatic trailer takes us back to the beginning, where Pugh is introduced as Natasha’s sister. Natasha’s past has always been kept secret, and nobody really knows how she became the world’s top spy. Black Widow takes us through her real journey for the very first time. The scenes are packed with action, emotion, and perfectly timed humor.

The focus of the trailer is mainly the two major aspects of her life; the time she spent in the “Red Room” and her life at home with her family. Glimpses of the Red Room had also been caught in the “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” The Red Room has been shown to be a Soviet, top-secret training organization. It churns out formidable assassins and spies by brainwashing girls taken in at a young age. In the latest trailer, we also see that Black Widow’s main villain, the Taskmaster, is brainwashing and creating a new set of soldiers.

Natasha, along with her sister Yelena, sets out to stop the Taskmaster and put an end to the Red Room once and for all. There is a lot of focus on the relationship shared between the two sisters, and it is evident that Pugh has done a wonderfully good job with her new role. It’s astonishing to see how effortlessly she fits into the Marvel family.

A familiar face is introduced mid-way through the trailer that the original, longtime Marvel fans will have no trouble recognizing; Thaddeus Ross. He is known for his role in “The Incredible Hulk” and “Captain America: Civil War.” The main reason behind Ross being in the movie (and in the States) is probably that he is trying to hunt down the renegade Avengers. After Romanoff let Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers get away in the aftermath of the biggest fight in “Civil War,” a lot of the Avengers are yet to be tracked down. Hence, the assumption of Ross’s role adds up.

During the course of the movie, Natasha and Yelena are also joined by Alexei (played by David Harbour), who represents the Red Guardian and Melina (Rachel Weisz), who is basically the Russian version of Captain America.

With all the anticipation in the air, it’s going to be very difficult to sit tight till Black Widow hits the theaters in November.
