Now a day, every online user on an average has more than five accounts in the online space. With the upsurge of the digital world and a wide majority of business moving online, customers are bound to create several accounts to take the benefits of the online applications. In this information age, users perform virtually everything on the web – starting from online purchases to online banking and online education. Thus, it is quite possible that among the several online accounts that a user has, a couple may not be referred or used for a long period of time, which leads to those account getting blocked.
Now, the question arises – Why does the service provider blocks or deletes account which is dormant for a substantially long period of time? The main reason behind the same is cyber security. Often a time, dormant accounts are used for planning and executing cyber crimes so as to camouflage the identity of the actual criminals. In addition to that, there is a space constraint faced by the service provider. With millions of active accounts and hundreds of thousands of users getting added on daily basis, it is imperative that space management is done in an optimized way so as to ensure cost effectiveness. However, Yahoo does provide an option to reactivate accounts which got blocked.
Users can directly get in touch with the Yahoo customer service team over a toll free number but customers are advised to try the steps for unblocking the account as during peak hours, the hold time could be as long as one hour. The first step that a customer should take is to reset the password of the account by answering the security question. If the user is able to answer the security question correctly, then the rest of the processes can be skipped. In case the user do not remember the key to the security question, then he has to fill an account unblock form stating the alternate email id so that a Yahoo executive can get in touch with him. Under normal circumstances, it takes 2 to 7 days for a Yahoo technical support executive to get in touch with the customer and complete the unblocking processes.
To prevent all these hassles from happening, customers are requested to keep track of the user accounts especially their email account so that they do not stay dormant for long period of time. Since customers generally tend to link their email accounts with their online businesses that they transact, hence proper care should be taken to preserve the continuity and robustness of their email accounts.
