Heat And Nic Salts Aren’t Always A Perfect Match For Pod System Vape

by Aanya Alberto A geeky girl and Vape Enthusiast

As you enter the summertime, many aspects of your vaping lives may change to suit the warmer climate. During summer, many of the vapers change the e-juice that we vape, switching from it's flavored to refreshing juices that soothe us when the sun is beating you down.

Another thing that we should consider is the temperature that we expose the e-juices to. E-juices contain some compounds that should never be overheated and this is the case when it comes to those made with salt-based nicotine.

But what happens when nicotine salts get really hot? How can we prevent them from overheating in the first place when using a pod system vape?

What Actually Makes The Nicotine Salts Unique?

If you’ve been vaping for several years now, you are quite familiar with freebase nicotine, the only type of nicotine that was available before nic salts came.

This type of nicotine was used in e-juices that were compatible with high wattage devices, and it was added to e-juice formulas in small concentrations to avoid harsh throat hits when inhaled.

Do you know that freebase nicotine is quite unstable, and when vaped in high concentrations, it can feel irritating along with the throat? Thankfully, we have got the salt-based nicotine which you can enjoy in high concentrates without any discomfort.

Devices such as the STIG pod system vape comes with lip-smacking flavorful salt nic e-juice. Since salt-based nicotine is blended with benzoic acid, which allows it to be vaped at low wattages.

As e-juices made with salt nic are only compatible with low wattage devices, you can very well understand why it’s important that it never overheats.

What Happens When Salt Nic Gets Really Hot?

As you know now, nicotine salts are compatible with just low-wattage devices. That’s because if they get too hot, they can break down on a molecular level, rendering these useless.

That’s why salt nic e-juices are not compatible with box mods that once ruled the market. Also, vaping a salt-based nicotine e-juice that’s been heated to a temperature that’s too high can result in a burning sensation along the throat.

What Actually Causes Nicotine To Overheat?

There are a couple of different ways in which the nicotine salts overheat. Let us explore them so you know what to avoid the next time you vape a salt nic e-juice.

The Device Settings

E-juices that contain nicotine salts are compatible with pod system vape, which operates at low wattages to preserve the chemical integrity of salt-based nicotine.

These devices maintain a low temperature so that the nicotine never overheats. Now, if you were to pour salt nic vape juice into a sub-ohm tank and use it with a box mod, you’ll ruin the juice due to high output levels at which the devices operate.

So, when you are thinking of vaping salt nic e-juice, using low-wattage devices is the best thing to choose from.
