DSLR is a marvel of modern camera design. It basically stands for “Digital Single Lens Reflex”. In a simple language, it is a digital camera that uses mirrors to direct light from the lens to the viewfinder, which is a hole on the back of the camera. It means when you look through it, you see exactly what the image sensor will capture.

As of late, there is a massive increase in the demand of Digital-SLR cameras, and everyone one is choosing it over any other camera. There are reasons why large number of photographers prefers DSLR camera:

. Immediate result: The foremost advantage of DSLR photography is that photos are available immediately. A person can use the camera’s screen to review photos right after taking them.

. Low cost/affordable: The cost per shot in Digital-SLR camera is very low, because it does not use films. So, a photographer can take as many shots as he wants.

. Interchangeable lenses: One of the major advantages of buying camera is its ability to let you choose and change different lenses. From wide angle to telephoto, you can customize your angle of view with a wide variety of lenses available, instead of shooting with the single multi-purpose lens found on a point and shoot. In addition to quality differences, DSLRs offer a number of adjustable functions like aperture, shutter speed, and white balance, each capable of full manual control.

. Light sensitivity: It also gives a rare luxury to shoot in low lighting and produce great images with less noise. The larger sensor is capable of capturing more light, allowing the DSLR to have a higher ISO. Another great advantage of these cameras is that you can change your ISO from image to image instead of roll to roll. DSLRs allow you to take multiple images in different lighting situations and, with a push of a button; you can instantly change the ISO for your next shot. The digital nature of the camera allows you to make split second changes to capture the exact shot with the right exposure.

. Dust reduction system: The worst nightmare a digital photographer faces is the dust on his camera’s censor. Normally, dust entering the camera occurs during to a change in the lenses. Although not all cameras are equipped with anti-dust mechanisms, but Digital-SLR camera’s ultrasonic vibration can help shake off the dust filled in the sensor, thus, saving you the trouble and risk of cleaning it by hand. These ultrasonic vibrations are usually triggered when you power off the camera.

Therefore, we can conclude that it is all about creativity, control and endless virtual potentials. Using this, one can click spectacular photographs with such an ease that even an amateur can boast himself of being a photographer.
