While unwanted hair is a big problem for women, there are several men who suffer from the same too. There are numerous men, who are very aware of their personality and grooming – for such men, having excess hair is an issue and they will be willing to go to extreme lengths to get rid of the same. However, just as is the case with women, men too need to be careful about the manner in which they have their hair removed.

It might come as a surprise, but hair removal methods that work for women, work just as well works just as well for men, as it does for women. These days, more and more men are looking for safer ways of hair removal, which will also allow them to enjoy smooth skin for a longer time, and without a doubt, they are constantly on the lookout for the best options.

In this article, we will look at some of the most commonly used methods of hair removal that are becoming increasingly popular with men.

Method 1: Hair removal creams and epilators
This is perhaps the easiest and most preferred method, because the processes can be done quite easily at home. Most hair removal creams are available at local drug stores, and the method of usage is application and then washing off, post a specific time period. Epilators can also be purchased quite easily and a range of the same is available online.

Hair removal creams have a chemical composition that attacks the proteins that are present in the hair, leading to their dissolving. When the very proteins that hold the hair strongly are weakened, they fall off easily. However, this is not a permanent situation, and the hair will grow back in a matter of a few days. This method is fine for parts of the body, which has coarse or strong hair, such as hands, legs, chest and back.

Epilators also pluck the hair, allowing for regrowth in a matter of a few days, which is why it is fine for hands, legs, back and chest.

But, neither of these methods is recommended for the more delicate parts of the body, such as the eyebrows and pubic hair.

Method 2: Waxing
There was once a time when waxing meant gooey hot liquids that were poured on the body, and the process of hair removal was painful and difficult. Today, waxing liquids have been replaced by modern day lotions, which affect only the hair, and not the skin. The lotion is spread over the hair, a specially designed piece of cloth is applied over the same and with a simple pull, all the hair disappears.

The process does not take a long time, and the results do last for a few weeks, if not more. Given that waxing lotions these days are quite safe, the process can be done on hands, legs, back, chest and even eyebrows, underarms and hair present on the back of the neck and ears. While the process can be done on the genital areas too, it needs to be kept in mind, that it will be quite painful.

Waxing can be done at home, however, if you are getting it done for the first time, or are looking at getting your eyebrows or back cleaned, it is best that you head to a professional. You can leave the experimentation for your hands and legs, because these are areas that you can wax quite comfortably, without assistance.

Method 3: Electrolysis
This is one of the more modern day methods, in which a super slim needle, penetrates the hair shaft of each hair. Once inside, a small jolt of electricity is sent to the follicle, destroying it. In addition, the very cell that leads to hair growth is also destroyed, which means that there is next to possibility of any new hair growing. The amount of time taken depends on how much area needs to be cleared of hair, but given that the treatment lasts a lifetime, the time taken will prove to be worth it. It is best that you start with small areas first, such as back of the neck. While the process can be done on the genital area too, it can be quite painful, even after a local anaesthetic has been administered.

Method 4: Laser hair removal
Perhaps one of the most modern and most sought after hair removal treatments, this process is generally done in cosmetic clinics and speciality salons. A specific laser light is targeted onto the melanin pigment present in hair follicles, inturn damaging the hair follicles. It takes multiple sessions to achieve significant reduction in hair growth. This is a faster, painless and more comfortable method of  achieving permanent hair reduction, thus making it an extremely popular hair removal method with men as well as women.

This is also one process that can be safely done in all parts of the body, including the genital area. However, this process works better with certain skin and hair types – this treatment is most suited for light skin with dark hair. The process might not work as successfully with white or lighter coloured hair. The best facet of laser hair removal is that should hair regrow, touch-up treatment sessions are easy and quick.

Hair removal has become just as important for men as for women, which would explain, why new dimensions are being explored each day!
