Guide to Clean Diesel Generator Set

by Generator D. Diesel Generator

How to clean oil of diesel generator set?

There is also a class of unsaponifiable oils that do not work with strong bases such as various mineral oils, lubricating oils, petrolatum and paraffin. They are insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents. There are two ways of cleaning, manual and mechanical.

I Cleaning Fluid

1. Organic solvents

See kerosene, light diesel, gasoline, alcohol and trichloroethylene. Organic solvent degreasing is based on dissolving dirt. It has no damage to metal, can dissolve all kinds of grease, does not need heating, is easy to use, and has good cleaning effect. However, organic solvents are mostly flammable and costly, and are mainly suitable for small-scale units and decentralized maintenance work.

2. Alkaline solvent

It is an aqueous solution of an alkali or a basic salt. The alkaline solution is chemically reacted with the saponifiable oil on the surface of the part to form a water-soluble soap and glycerin which does not easily float on the surface of the part, and then rinsed with hot water to remove the oil easily. In the case where the unsaponifiable oil and the saponifiable oil are not easily removed, an emulsifier should be added to the cleaning solution to emulsifie the oil and separate from the surface of the part. Commonly used emulsifiers are soap, water glass (sodium silicate), gum, and the like. Different cleaning fluids should be used for parts of different materials. Alkaline solutions have different degrees of corrosion to metals, especially aluminum.

When cleaning with an alkaline solution, it is generally necessary to heat the solution to 80 to 90 °C. Rinse with hot water after degreasing, remove residual lye from the surface to prevent corrosion of parts. Alkaline solution cleaning is widely used.

3. Chemical cleaning solution

It is a chemically synthesized water-based metal cleaning agent based on surfactants. It has strong decontamination ability due to its surface active substance reducing interfacial tension and causing wetting, penetrating, emulsifying and dispersing. It also has the advantages of non-toxic, non-corrosive, non-combustible, non-explosive, pollution-free, certain rust-proof ability, and low cost.

II Cleaning Method

1. Scrub

Place the parts in a container filled with diesel, kerosene or other cleaning fluid, scrub with a cotton yarn or brush with a brush. This method is easy to operate, simple in equipment, but low in efficiency, and is used for small and medium-sized parts produced in small batches.

2. Boiled

The prepared solution and the parts to be cleaned are placed together in a cleaning tank of the appropriate size welded with a steel plate. In the lower part of the pool, there is a stove for heating, and the parts are heated to 80~90 °C for cooking.

3. Spray

A cleaning fluid with a certain pressure and temperature is sprayed onto the surface of the part to remove diesel generator set oil. The method has good cleaning effect and high efficiency, but the equipment is complicated, and is suitable for cleaning the parts with less complicated shapes and serious grease on the surface.

4. Vibration cleaning

It puts the cleaned parts on the cleaning basket or cleaning rack of the vibration cleaning machine, immerses the cleaning liquid, generates vibration by the cleaning machine to simulate the artificial rinsing action, and cooperates with the chemical action of the cleaning liquid to achieve the removal of oil stains. the goal of.

5. Ultrasonic cleaning

It is achieved by the chemical action of the cleaning liquid and the oscillating action of the ultrasonic waves introduced into the cleaning liquid to achieve the purpose of removing oil from the parts.

Cleaning method for diesel generator set parts

In the repair of diesel generator sets, it is often necessary to clean the surface of the parts of the oil, carbon deposits, scale and rust of diesel generator set. Due to the different nature of various soils, the method of removal is different.

1. Oil stain Clean

When the oil deposit on the surface of the part is thick, it should be scraped off first. Generally, the surface oil of the parts should be cleaned in a hot cleaning solution. The common cleaning liquids are alkaline cleaning liquids and synthetic detergents. When using an alkaline cleaning solution for hot cleaning, heat to 70-90 ° C, immerse the parts for 10 to 15 minutes, then remove and rinse with clean water, then blow dry with compressed air.

2. Carbon removal

The removal of carbon deposits can be accomplished by a simple mechanical removal method using a metal brush or spatula, but it is not easy to remove the carbon deposits and to facilitate the operation of the part surface. It is best to use chemical methods to remove carbon deposits, that is, first use a decarburizing agent to heat to 80-90 ° C, the carbon on the parts is expanded and softened, and then removed with a brush.

3. Scale removal

The scale is generally removed by chemical removal. The caustic soda solution or hydrochloric acid solution, the sodium fluoride hydrochloride detergent and the phosphoric acid detergent are added to the coolant. After the engine is working for a certain period of time, the coolant can be replaced.

Is the cleaning frequency of the injector of the generator high or low?

The injector's injector degree is an integral part of the unit. In order to reduce the fault of the generator injector and ensure the normal function of the injector, the user needs to maintain and maintain the injector. If the nozzle is not cleaned for a long time, it will produce grease. These grease will block the injector and cause poor fuel injection. Therefore, if the injector is to be cleaned frequently, should the cleaning frequency of the injector be high or low?

Some people think that the nozzle should be cleaned regularly, but this is wrong. Clean the nozzle scientifically, or it will be useless. In fact, there are not many parts of diesel engine parts that really need to be cleaned. One is that after the fuel is filtered by the gasoline pump, and then filtered by the fuel filter, the size of the impurity particles is not of the order of magnitude compared with the gap between the nozzle and the fuel injector. Second, gasoline contains the glue, through the gap through the high speed gasoline ejection, it is difficult to store. What is more, countless times a day the needle valve and the contact surface of the strong knock. Third, most models are using the outside cylinder injection mode, the temperature here is not high, compared with the spark plug working environment is several times better.

The really easy place to influence the atomization should be the outside surface of the nozzle. The so-called advanced cleaning agent, which contains benzene or benzene aromatic hydrocarbons, can melt some of the carbon deposits while burning in the engine. The cheapest cleaning agent is the carburetor cleaner, which can also be added to burn.

Some friends always feel good when they see the black water flowing from behind the exhaust pipe when they see the cleaning of carbon deposits. In fact, those 90% of blackwater is not the generators internal carbon deposits. What is more, after washing and drying, gasoline will continue to produce a certain amount of carbon, until the state of equilibrium, no significance. On the other hand, benzene aromatic hydrocarbon cylinder combustion temperature is much higher than gasoline, nothing to wash the diesel generator is not good. So don't wash it unless you have to.
