Great Matcha Green Tea Recipes For You
by Shubham Raheja managerIf you were to ask anyone who has tried
matcha, they will tell you the same thing - they loved it! Matcha is one of
those beverages that a lot of people are afraid to try. It has a very green
appearance, which can make a person think they are drinking grass or a salad.
But they also get a little apprehensive when
they see all the complicated ways that you can prepare this beverage. The truth
is that matcha green tea is not hard to prepare in any way. We are going to
look at the regular way that you can prepare matcha, along with some unique
recipes that you are going to enjoy.
Matcha Green Tea Recipe -
The first thing to understand about matcha is
that it is not like regular tea in its appearance. When you get matcha, it is
not in its tea leaf form. The tea leaves are formed into a powder before matcha
is packaged and sold. It is because of how the leaves are prepared and the fact
you are supposed to consume the whole leaf - not take it out like you do with
other tea.
When you get the best matcha green tea powder,
you can start by boiling some water. When it gets to boiling, let it cool off
for a few seconds in a cup. Then add one ounce of the water into your cup that
has matcha powder in it already. When the one ounce is added, you will take
your whisker and start whisking at a rapid rate. You will start to mix the
water and powder, resulting in a mixture forming. It will have some foam at the
top, which shows that you did a good job.
Now that you have your matcha thoroughly
combined and foam at the top, you will add the rest of your water. You can fill
up a regular 8 or 9 ounce tea cup, while you can even add some ice and lukewarm
water if you want to drink the matcha cold. It is so easy to prepare in this
way.
While you are encouraged to get a bamboo whisk
and other gear that will help you prepare matcha, you can start by using what
is at your home. It is always best to try matcha a few times and see if it will
be a regular part of your routine. Then you can make a decision about whether
you want to get the extra gear that will let you have an authentic experience
while you are drinking it.
Fun Matcha Recipes:
1.
Matcha Latte
Did you know that you can make a matcha latte?
While it is not what we recommend if you are on a diet, you can enjoy it if you
do not need to worry about your weight. And it is so easy to prepare!
All you need to do is use the regular process
for preparing matcha. But when you add the rest of your boiling or room
temperature water, you will add milk on top instead. You can even froth your
milk for the authentic experience. Think of your matcha powder and one ounce
water mixture as the same thing as an espresso shot.
2.
Green Tea Cookies
Did you know that if you take a regular sugar
cookie mixture, you can add matcha powder into the batter and get some
delicious green tea cookies. You will get the health benefits of matcha for
your kids, while you can let them enjoy a sugary treat as well. If you want to
go all out, you can even add a few chocolate chips or small nut pieces into the
mix. Your kids will never go back to regular cookies after this experience!
3.
Matcha Smoothie
We already prepared matcha using the regular
method that we talked about above. Now we have that one ounce water and matcha powder
mixture that is totally combined. You can add this mixture into your daily
smoothie, whether it is a fruit and/or vegetable smoothie. It adds a great,
natural flavor, while it is also going to give you that calming energy boost
that you may need in the morning or afternoon.
4.
Matcha Cakes
If you are the type of person who loves to
bake, you may want to go ahead and try to make a type of matcha cake. You have
so many options in this area, but we would recommend that you stick to the
simpler cake recipes. If you have a recipe for sponge cake that you love, you
can add matcha powder to give it a unique appearance and flavor. While you
could add matcha powder to richer and more decadent cakes, we think that it
would just get lost in the shuffle and not have a huge impact on the flavor in
those instances.
