You need to add a suitable liquid to the powder layer in wet
granulating equipment.
This type of equipment can be compact compared to dry granulation
equipment, easy to clean and maintain. Some of the typical liquids which
can be used with wet technique are isopropanol, ethanol and water.
These liquids can be used alone and if required can be used in
combination too. Complexity of the wet granulation process depends on
the characteristics of the powders used for process. The wet granulation
equipments are mainly found in pharmaceuticals manufacturing industries.
Dry granulation equipments create
free flowing granules exclusive of the requirement to include wetting agents or
binders, assisting the immediate consistent compressing of fine powders into
corrugated ribbons or densified briquettes. Particle density and size play a
large task in the effectiveness of the consequent processing steps. The most
common type of dry granulation is roller compaction which usually has no
collision with the consistency of an upstream fine particle blend.
