Gout - Uric Acid disorder

Introduction

Gout is a metabolic disorder characterized by abnormally high levels of uric acid - a by-product of the body - in blood and tissues.

In gout, uric acid crystals are deposited in joints which will cause called gouty arthritis. They can also be deposited in the kidneys which may cause the onset of renal calculi (stones).

In some patients, high levels of uric acid are activated by a diet rich in chemicals called pureness found in anchovies, walnuts and foods of animal origin (derived from the liver, kidneys and joints).

In other patients, the bodily production of uric acid itself is simply too high, regardless of their diet.

This can also happen in certain hereditary genetic metabolic disorders, leukemia and cytotoxic therapy for cancer (chemotherapy). Lately, gout can also occur when renal excretion (kidney) uric acid is very low.

This happens in some forms of kidney disease in chronic hunger and excessive alcohol consumption.

For some patients, it is a combination of factors that lead to excess uric acid in the body and consequently to drop.

Some of the main risk factors for gout include obesity or sudden weight gain, a diet rich in urine, alcohol abuse, especially those who drink to excess but inconsistently, high blood pressure, especially if treated with diuretic drugs (that make urination) as Hydrochlorothiazide, a family history of gout, trauma or major surgery, and in certain types of cancer or cancer treatments.

Approximately 90 percent of gout patients are men over 40 years old. Gout is very rare in young women, and when it occurs in them, typically appear many years after menopause.
