Google Launched Root Certificate Authority to make the Internet Safer and Faster
Google is one of the best and most important websites and
the company of internet and working extra hard to make the internet easier,
safer and faster for the users. Now the Google has announced the development of
its certificate authority efforts, and in the result of these efforts, Google
has launched a Root Certificate Authority. This authority allows the company to
manage all of its certification needs independently.
The Ambition of Google:
The company is working efficiently and making significant
efforts to make the Internet safer; this can be done by getting all web
services to use HTTPS, it includes:
·
Boosting Secure Pages in search results.
·
Tracking the use of HTTPS on the world's top 100
websites.
The subordinate certificate authority GIAG2 has been
operating by Google; it is signed by GeoTrust Global CA. The next step of
Google is to get the ability for the issue of root certificates for products on
its own to support application like content transfer app
and more.
Trust Services of Google:
Google has acquired two roots CAs, these are:
Ø
GlobalSign R2
Ø
GlobalSign R4
To change the independent infrastructure , the company is
continuing using its GIAG2 certificate authority.
A security and privacy engineer at Google, Ryan Hurst said, "If
you are building products that intend to connect to a Google property moving
forward you need to at minimum include the above Root Certificates. With that
said even though we now operate our own roots, we may still choose to perform
subordinate CAs under third-party operated roots to transfer
content , for this reason, if you are developing code intended to connect
to a Google property, we still recommend you include a comprehensive set of
trustworthy roots."
So, Google is working to improve the infrastructure, and in
result now Google has launched Root Certificate Authority.
