Glasgow company completes Edinburgh Kitwalk for Breast Cancer UK
by James P. Outreach & PR ExecutiveRedMosquito, a managed IT services provider based in Glasgow, completed the
Edinburgh Kiltwalk at the weekend to raise funds for Breast Cancer UK.
The Kiltwalk is a unique Scottish charity event which
brings together walkers of all ages and abilities to fundraise for their chosen
cause. Thanks to the Hunter Foundation, an extra 40% of what is raised goes directly
to the charity. The team braved the turbulent Scottish weather conditions to
complete the 14-mile walk which ended up in Murrayfield.
The team at RedMosquito walked to raise funds for
Breast Cancer UK, who believe more can be done to prevent breast cancer. Statistics
show that 1 in 7 women are diagnosed with the disease at some point in their lives,
yet a quarter of these cases are preventable.
Breast cancer incidence
rates have increased by 25%, in the UK, over the last 20 years and are
predicted to rise by a further 2% between 2014 and 2035.
They are working to tackle the root cause of breast
cancer to reduce these rates. The charity doesn’t receive grants from the
Government but rely on support from members of the public to fund their
research.
RedMosquito are still taking donations for the
charitable cause. If you would like to support their fundraising efforts you
can donate, through the Kiltwalk page here.
