Situated on Yanta Road in City of Xian, Shaanxi History Museum lies to the northwest of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda for China vacations. It is the first large national museums with modern facilities in China. Occupying a total area of 65,000 square meters (16 acres), it has a building area of 55,600 square meters (13.7 acres), cultural relic's storerooms of 8,000 square meters (2 acres), exhibition halls of 11,000 square meters (2.7 acres), and a collection of 370,000 objects.

This hall covers 6,000 square meters and displays more than 2, 000 artifacts. The hall can be divided into three parts: the Entrance Hall, the Shanxi Local Historic Exhibition Room and the Main Room. The Shanxi Local Historic Exhibition Room Xian day trips is arranged into seven small parts to separate relics from the Prehistoric Period, the Zhou, Qin, Han, Wei, Jin and the Northern and Southern Dynasties, the Sui Dynasty, the Tang Dynasty, and the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, with a focus on social development from the Stone Age to the decline of China's imperial era in 1840.

It is the most distinctive collection in the museum. The hall, lying on the first floor below ground, occupies 1,000 square meters and stores 600 mural paintings from more than 20 noble tombs of the Tang Dynasty. These painting describe different aspects of the noble classes in the Tang Dynasty, depicting how people lived during that time. Other related relics and painting in other dynasties are also shown as companions for the paintings so that visitors can understand the development of the murals.
