You may have noticed that the ghee jar is not stored in the refrigerator, usually. But, can ghee go bad? Yes, ghee has a shelf-life and it is longer than any other dairy products. While buying ghee, one should check its shelf life, storage recommendation and other important features. Ghee lasts long if you give it proper storage conditions.   1. Homemade ghee can stay fresh for three months at room temperature. If you want to prolong its shelf-life, then store the ghee in the freezer in a freezer-safe container.

  2. There are many households where fridge is used 2-3 times a day. The regular opening may spoil the ghee faster. So try to store the extra amount of ghee in the refrigerator.

  3. Grass-fed cow ghee can go long when stored in an airtight container and away from direct sunlight.

  4. The shelf-life of ghee also depends on its quality. Grass-fed ghee has a longer shelf-life than normal ghee.
