Getting arrested for a DWI offense in Texas and that too for the first time can be frightening, confusing and embarrassing for the convict. It gets even more complicated when an Ignition Interlock charge is on the way and the offender is about to bear the entire Ignition Interlock Device Cost. However, the convict need not worry if he has a capable and experienced lawyer by his side who knows all the rules and provisions relating to a DWI offense and the possible defense strategies.

Ignition Interlock Test Intervals
The Ignition Interlock Device is being modified on a regular basis to help combat DWI offenses and prevent drivers from driving in an intoxicated state or blowing into the device of another car. The system is so designed that it will require the driver to provide breath samples at random intervals while the engine is on. The device will provide the driver a three minutes time in order to enable the driver to pull over the car and then provide the breath sample. If the breath sample is not provided within the required time period or if the sample provided exceeds the permissible alcohol limit the device records the event and activates flashes and blows horns triggering an alarm to passing vehicles. The laws have been modified to impose criminal charges on the offender who tries to forge the data of the device and provide misleading information.

Working Mechanism of The Interlock Device
The Interlock device has a particular working mechanism which helps to detect the alcohol content level in the blood of the driver if suspected for driving in an intoxicated state. Most interlock system is composed of two major components- the BAC measuring equipment placed with the automobile and the control unit installed under the dashboard. The control unit prevents the vehicle’s engine from starting unless a positive report is provided in the measuring equipment. As soon as the ignition is powered on the driver is required to provide a breath sample upon confirmation of which the engine starts.

The BAC level is established by the system through an electro-chemical sensor program which is specifically designed to react to intoxicated substances. However, toxic substances of low intensity such as cigarettes do not distort the measurement result. While the vehicle is on the roads relevant events get reported in the database including time, date and submission or refusal to submit to a rolling retest. The device is equipped to deliver the data electronically and compiled in a data log. All these escalate the Ignition Interlock Device Cost which can be quite burdensome for the offender to bear for an extended tie period.
