Get to Know More About ECA with Alorence Immigration

by Alorence Immigration Canada Immigration Consultant
Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) is an integral part of Express Entry for Canada PR. The process includes an intensive verification of foreign academic documents (outside Canada) and determining whether these can be considered equivalent to the Canadian standard of education. While creating an Express Entry profile, every candidate is required to submit their ECA report. Alorence Immigration offers a wide range of immigration services, including detailed guidance on ECA. There are several accredited bodies that perform this ECA, and World Education Services (WES) is one of them. However, before sending out educational documents to them, you should verify if your institution falls under the list of WES approved universities

How to Proceed with ECA with WES?

At Alorence Immigration, each candidate has an assigned case manager who takes care of all immigration formalities concerning Express Entry. ECA is one of the key primary steps that need to be completed for submitting the Express Entry form. Usually, this includes the validation of the candidate’s highest level of education. However, under certain circumstances candidates can also get more than one credential assessed. Based on the academic stream, your case manager will suggest the most suitable designated ECA body. Note that each of these institutions has its own characteristics and functions. So, it is recommended that you choose the body carefully. Currently, a majority of Indian universities accept WES evaluations in Canada.

WES approved universities mean the degrees or diplomas obtained from these institutions can be assessed by WES for the ECA reports. Under this system, grades are calculated on a 4.0 grading scale that is in line with the Canadian academic structure. However, for individuals coming from a medical or pharma profession that require valid licenses to practice in Canada, the assessment bodies are different and additional details need to be furnished for procuring the ECA report. Once a candidate submits the application to WES, they will receive a unique reference number. This number can be used for tracking purposes. If required, WES might send additional requests to a candidate’s university. Under such a scenario, the university must respond to these requests for completing the evaluation successfully.

Case managers at Alorence Immigration are aware of the necessary documents that need to be submitted for ECA by WES. They will thoroughly assist with when and how to send out these documents from your university/you including the payment method. Candidates earn points for the Comprehensive Ranking Scale (CRS) depending on the successful evaluation of a specific level of education. The entire ECA process usually takes 2-3 months. Once a candidate receives the report, they need to enter the details in the Express Entry profile (including the WES reference number). Applicants must upload all the original copies if they receive any invitation for permanent residence. The finally assessed ECA report is valid for five years and can be used for future Express Entry profiles.
