Get a Suitable Transport Upon Arrival in Flights to Bangkok
by Amanda Sutcliffe Travel DealsThe biggest airport in Thailand, the Suvarnabhumi
International Airport is equipped with excellent facilities and serves
passengers and flights heading to various corners of the world. The bright and
airy departure halls of the airport always delight the passengers, as they can
take some amazing Instagram-worthy snaps in the awe-inspiring surroundings of
its uniquely designed interiors. Every year, more than 50 million passengers
travel through this airport and is a major hub of Southeast Asia for air
travel. Although this airport is located 16 miles outside the town, it gives
passengers the necessary convenience in getting to the Bangkok city centre with
the help of public and private transport modes.
After arriving in any of the flights
to Bangkok, you can get to the first floor by taking an elevator from the
arrival hall located on the second floor. The taxi stands at the Entry Gate
have designated booths where you'll have to queue up and convey the name of your
final destination to the booth officer. You'd be escorted by the taxi driver to
the vehicle a few moments later. It must be kept in mind that you'll have to
pay the driver a courtesy fee and toll fees in addition to the final taxi fare.
The services of metred taxis are available for 24 hours.
If you're looking for a more comfortable ride,
consider hiring an airport limousine. While you're at the arrival hall, you can
go to the nearest service counter on the same floor and make your choice from
the vehicles available. The rates may vary depending on the kind of vehicle
you've chosen and the total distance from the airport to your destination. They
are usually higher than the rates of the metred taxis. However, you can enjoy a
first-class ride in an airport limousine and it would almost feel like being
treated like a celebrity. This service is also available 24 hours daily.
For those who have some time to spare and don't mind a
few hassles for a cheaper ride from the airport, public buses would be the best
choice. They are the cheapest mode of transport to reach downtown. Once you're
outside the arrival hall, move to the Airport Shuttle Service stand where
you'll get the express shuttle. It takes you to the Public Transport Centre
from where you can choose your bus for one of the available routes. The rate
would depend upon the distance. Each of these buses makes about 6 to 8 stops
along the way.
One of the other options available in public transport
is Public Van, which has few stops and makes your ride more comfortable. You
have to first take the express airport shuttle to the Public Transport Centre
and then choose from the available routes. Most of the routes do not operate 24
hours daily. If you're heading to one of the destinations of the Airport Express
Bus, you can go with it instead of the Public Van. The Airport Express Bus
service runs from 5:00 in the morning until midnight.
