by Jeduka Helpdesk Education Counsultant

Recently, a German consulate announced reduced travel fees for Indian citizens. According to the German consulate in Mumbai, this will help Indian students who want to study and visit Germany.

The German National visa fee is now INR 6,000 for adults and INR 3,000 for minors, whereas the Schengen visa fee is INR 6,400 for adults and INR 3,200 for minors.

A National visa allows students to study in Germany and is also used for employment. It is issued for more than 90 days. On the other hand, a Schengen visa is a short-stay visa and can be used for travel all across Europe for up to 90 days total within 180 days.

According to a representative of the German embassy, the cost of visas is based on currency exchange rates, and students require national visas. The fee was previously INR 3,300 for minors and INR 6,300 for adults, thus it has been decreased by INR 300.

Here is a list of required documents for the German visa:

For Schengen visa applications, applicants will need to submit the application form, a declaration, copies of past visas, proof of accommodation, proof of financial funds, a cover letter specifying why they want to visit Germany, evidence of civil status, and proof that they have adequate travel health insurance.

In addition to other documentation, the forms may need to be filled out. In some cases, the employment status and additional documents are required.
