Spain is a beautiful country and is rich with spectacular architecture that manifests the different cultures and civilizations. That’s why it’s not surprising that most of the “Game of Thrones” settings are filmed in Spain.

Located nine kilometers away from the north of Italica is the remarkable remains of the Roman amphitheater. The well-preserved site is a 25,000-seater amphitheater where its central pit was used as an animal cage for gladiator combats.

Beyond the amphitheater, you can also see five houses of affluent families that have been excavated. You’ll see colorful mosaics, incredible details of bird and planet designs and more.

The “Game of Thrones” crew used the site for their Season 7 scene where the historic meeting happened between three characters of major houses to discuss their common enemy.

Here’s an interesting piece of trivia: did you know that the castle is of Muslim origin? However, later on, it became a Roman fort with a Moorish style. However, it went numerous reconstructions during the Middle Ages.

The castle is located 45 minutes away from the city of Cordoba. Touring around the castle will bring you back to the ancient times where dungeons and arches are still a thing. Most of the tourists that go on a Jewish travel include this in their itinerary.

In “Game of Thrones”, the castle depicts Highgarden, the home of the Tyrells. Some places were also used as part of the fictional Casterly Rock of House Lannister.

A remarkable mix of Christian and Mudejar architecture, the Alcázar of Seville became one of the UNESCO heritage sites as it shows the survival of different civilization in a harmonious way.

The palace has a breathtaking view showing historical evolution beginning in the Arabic period, all the way up to the Renaissance, the Baroque , and the 19th century.

The palace is also one of the oldest European royal palaces that still function.
The Alcázar of Seville became the setting of the fictional Dorne’s Water Palace of Sunspear, home of the royal Martell family.

The Itzurun Beach is already a well-known site, especially for water sports enthusiasts. Tourists can go surfing, canoeing, or body boarding.

But aside from the water activities, tourists will also fall in love with its breathtaking view. During low tide, you will enjoy watching the limestone walls and flysch – a geographical phenomenon caused by erosion of the sea.

In the show, the Itzurun beach depicts the Dragonstone where Daenerys and her Dothraki warriors including Varys and Tyrion landed.
