Atlanta is a hotbed of action in the world of professional sports. Depending on the season, you can take in a game with the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball, Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League or the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association. New in 2017, the Atlanta United FC brought Major League Soccer to the area. Plus, you’ll find the College Football Hall of Fame.

#2 History

Take a journey back in time with one of Atlanta’s many historical attractions. The Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site helps explain the early, formative years of the civil rights leader’s life. The Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum gives you a look into what it’s like to be the Commander in Chief of the United States. A room recreated to look like the Oval Office is always a popular attraction.

#3 Arts and Culture

Atlanta is a destination city for music, theater, and art. Ever wonder what it’s like to walk the red carpet, just like Hollywood celebrities do? You’ll have your chance at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre, featuring music, dance, and other performing arts. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra performs concert series in both classical and contemporary styles. If you need something that will also appeal to younger members of the family, the Center for Puppetry Arts offers live shows.

#4 Business

Some of the biggest names in business call Atlanta home. Better yet, you can take some phenomenal tours at many of these businesses. The World of Coca-Cola shows you what has made Coca-Cola the most popular soft drink on the planet. On a more serious note, the CNN studio tour gives you a peek inside the newsroom of a global network with its finger on the pulse of current events. The Delta Flight Museum is great for fans of aviation. Exhibits explore the past, present, and future of flight.

#5 Family Fun

Families will find attractions for kids of all ages. Six Flags Over Georgia will satisfy the thrill seekers. The Georgia Aquarium combines education with awe-inspiring fun. See an incredible collection of fish and other marine life while participating in programs and activities. The Children’s Museum of Atlanta offers many hands-on exhibits where learning is disguised as play.
