Fuel Injector and EGR Cooler Kit Replacement

by Shop Injectors Shop Quality Injectors Online
Over the last few decades, fuel injectors surpassed the carburetor as the primary mode of fuel delivery for most automobiles, having established themselves as the most efficient, effective way to admit gas into an internal combustion engine. Similarly, Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) coolers have become the industry model for optimum engine functionality and environmental sustainability. Unfortunately, like all technology, both devices will inevitably break down over time. If you have any car long enough, both pieces will at some point need to be replaced. As with most car repairs, it's usually better to replace all of your injectors at the same time, as opposed to doing multiple repairs over time. Similarly, it's not a bad idea to replace your entire EGR system at the same time.

A properly functioning fuel injector makes for a smoother ride and more rapid, reliable engine responses, as well as increased temperature variation resistance in both cold and hot weather, improved idling, more dependable starting, and decreasing the need for regular maintenance and repairs. A good fuel injector is also more fuel-efficient than a carburetor thanks to a more even cylinder-to-cylinder distribution, which in turn makes a vehicle both more economically and environmentally efficient. Not only do you spend less money since you’re using less fuel, but the exhaust emissions are also cleaner and less toxic thanks to more precise fuel metering which lessens the presence of the harmful byproducts of combustion. This in turn also makes it easier to accurately calibrate devices like catalytic converters thanks to the more predictable consistency of the exhaust.

EGR coolers also help reduce a vehicle's harmful emissions by recirculating engine exhaust and using it to help regulate combustion chamber temperature. This leads to less atmospheric pollution (in fact many states require EGR coolers in order to pass emissions tests), but also reduces losses from forced enlargement of throttle plate openings, less heat rejection and loss of thermal energy, reduction of chemical disassociation, and a more favorable specific heat ratio.

Over time, however, recirculated exhaust can clog valves with carbon deposits (called particulates) forming obstructions and reducing overall functionality. EGR coolers can sometimes be cleaned, but they usually require complete replacement. Similarly, over time fuel injection systems can become worn and ineffective over time, usually requiring replacement. This is partially due to the difficulty in cleaning and repairing them, and also to the potential hazards that can be associated with performing maintenance on the highly pressurized parts, which have been known to injure those attempting repair, even with only a minimal amount of PSI.
