FTTH Cable Can Revolutionise Cyber Communication
ADSL, next generation access, VDSL, XDSL, broad band, bandwidth, copper cable, fibre, high speed, fttp, ftth, etc. etc., the names of the various telecom technologies and their acronyms are enough to drive one crazy leave alone trying to understand them. And the fact that these technologies change rapidly does not help. However on the flip side it is not that complicated if one looks at it closely. All these terms basically deal with how fast data can be delivered to users. How fast a user can download her/ his favourite song, a video, a book, even an HD movie? It deals with her/his viewing videos on demand, playing online games with friends, watching HDTV programmes or catch up TV, and so on more comfortably and without buffering.FTTH Cable or Fibre to home is the newest technology in town, and is gaining in popularity. FTTH also known or Fibre to Premises (FTTP) involves the use of fibre optics to dispatch data from a centre to individual homes, premises, businesses, institutions etc. Now the question that comes to our mind is how is that different from the earlier technologies which sort of used a similar set up? "Fibre Optics" which deals with transfer of data in the form of or encoded in a light beam through a glass or plastic cable is structured in such a way that loss of data during dispatch is almost nil. And the difference that is brought about is the "speed of light". Therefore we can say that with application of FTTH cables data (video, movie, song, game...) will come to the user with the speed of light. FTTH drop cables (FTTH cables that are used indoors) are faster than a mobile connection, an ADSL connection or even a satellite connection. The biggest advantage of FTTH cables is that it is not going to be replaced in the near future as its capacity is virtually unlimited.
The installation of FTTH would require a centre point which will be fibre cabled to the respective homes of the locality. The Fibre Reinforced Plastic cables (FRP cables) used in the fibre to home connection set up are available in the market for the installation of FTTH in users' homes through cable trays. There are several FRP cable tray manufacturers in India amongst whom Polycab is one of the few renowned wire companies in India associated with the industry for almost five decades.
Ashish Poly is an expert in the cables and electricity field. He is fascinated about the FTTH cable technology.
