FSSAI registration mandatory for food business

FSSAI Registration is mandatory and it is required for all the Food Business Operator (FBO) involved in the small-scale food business. The FSSAI Food License is issued by the food authority of India to ensure the safety of food products manufactured by various food Business operators in India. As per the law of Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006, any food business operator in India to regulate the manufacturing, processing, storing and distributing of food needs to get FSSAI license to ensure availability of safe food for human daily consumption.

To maintain the quality of food level is mandatory to ensure the safety and satisfaction to each and every customer of food business operators. FSSAI Registration plays an important role in formulating the controlling procedures. Homemade food or Hotel food each and every Food Business Operator is required to get a Food License or registration.

As per the rules and regulation of the Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006, FSSAI Registration or License mandatory for:

·         Food Product retailers

·         All types of Food Manufacturer

·         Wholesale food business operators

·         Food Traders 

·         Online Food Business Operator

·         Caters or Hotel

·         Food Storage unit

·         Raw food material suppliers

·         Food Packaging unit

·         Exporter and Importer of food products

·         Food products Transporter and Distributors

·         Food Packaging unit

Documents required for obtaining FSSAI registration

·         FSSAI declaration

·         Photo Identity of FBO

·         Proof of possession of premises (eg. Rental Agreement )

·         Partnership Deed / Certificate of Incorporation / Articles of Association etc.

·         List of food products to be dealt with.

·         Food safety management system plan

Any person who is involved in the food business has to apply for an FSSAI license as per the FSSAI Regulation 2011.
