From Monaco To Cannes: Marion Cotillard Raids the Dior Cruise Catwalk

Wow. Yesterday we were admiring Marion Cotillard in her daytime-in-Cannes look of Antonio Berardi alongside her co-star in new film Blood Ties, Zoe Saldana. Then came the premiere, for which everyone confidently predicted she would wear Christian Dior by Raf Simons, as part of her role as an official face of the brand.

Marion emerged onto the red carpet in this amazing coloured silk bustier dress from Raf Simons’ first ever Cruise Collection for the brand, the catwalk show which only took place a day earlier, against a stormy backdrop in the principality of Monaco.

 

We’re simply adoring the look; ADORING we say. From Marion’s smoky eyed beauty look to her Chopard jewels and bouffant beehive, which could have been construed as a risky choice, but in the event, fits perfectly with the 60’s modernist touches of the outfit – as Raf was thought to have been inspired by 60’s painter Mondrian and Yves Saint Laurent’s Mondrian fashions of a bygone era.

 

Back on Sunday, Mr Simons also extended the gesture of Dior-ness to fellow ambassador, Princess Charlene of Monaco. She managed to wear her runway look before the pictures even hit the internet – only in her case the gown had a touch more of a lining than the runway version, which preserved her royal modesty. Parfait.
