On late Sunday, July 31 nights, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut was arrested after hours-long raids by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case, reports stated. The raids transpired after Raut did not show up when the ED sent a summons.

Based on accounts, Raut will be presented before a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court on Monday, August 1. In the midst of this arrest, speculations have been made that the opposition will furnish strong reactions who have been alleging the misuse of central agencies by the BJP.

According to narratives, Raut has been nabbed in connection with a money laundering case connected to the redevelopment of Patra Chawl in Mumbai. It reportedly was related to transactions comprising his wide and others, officials said.

Reacting to his arrest, Raut's brother Sunil Raut was quoted in reports elaborating on how the BJP was attempting to scare Raut and will continue to do so with Uddhav Thackeray. He claims the arrest is being made to silence Raut. He went on to declare that everyone in Maharashtra will now raise their voice against injustice.

Raut was taken to the ED office on Sunday evening, while the raids at his residence commenced on Sunday morning and were in action for nearly nine hours. Amid this, Raut proclaimed that he will not quit Thackeray's team and that false evidence was being produced against him in a false case.

On the other hand, the ED claimed to have found INR 11 lakh in cash at Raut's residence. Similarly, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde took a dig at Raut by voicing that if the latter is innocent, he should not fear investigation.
