India is a country of very vast cultural as well as religious and ethnic diversities. With 1.3 billion people living here, one can only imagine the diversity of the place in every aspect and field. 1.      Desert Festival Jaisalmer, Rajasthan

This fest is simply the culture of Rajasthan on show for all the visitors. One of the most popular and vibrant folk festivals of India, the Jaisalmer Folk Festival is spanned across 3 days, showcasing Rajasthani Folk Arts, Dance and Music along-with live dramas. The fest also holds Turban tying competitions, Puppet Shows and Sound and Light shows in the middle of sand dunes.

2.      Khajuraho Dance Festival, Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh Kala Parishad organizes this Dance Festival in which the traditional dance forms of India are celebrated. This celebration is done in the backdrop of two famous Khajuraho Temples – the Chitragupt and Vishwanath Temple. This celebration lasts for a week featuring classical Indian dance forms like Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi and Jagoi, which are performed by some acclaimed artists. Besides, one can visit the World Heritage Site Khajuraho on this trip.

3.      Onam, Kerala

The mots important folk festival of Southern India is Kerala’s Onam. This extravagant festival has everything from Pageantry, more than 40 arts forms performed, including Theyyam, Kathakali, Padayani, Neelakavadi among others and cultural programs. The history of this festival is that it celebrates the return of King Mahabali’s spirit to Kerala. This is essentially a harvest festival and being a part of it is an experience worth a lifetime.

4.      International Kite Festival, Gujarat

Ahmedabad hosts the International Kite Festival on January 14 every year on the day of Makar Sakranti or Uttarayan. Kite makers from all over the world throng this place and furious kite flying competitions take place.
