Flexibility Matters - NeighborhoodTrainers

by Neighborhood Trainers Finding a trainer is a personal choice

When it comes to exercise, a lot of people don’t think about flexibility. This is a shame, because it is important to the health of the body and overall well-being. Being flexible allows the body to avoid injury and maneuver effectively when performing tasks in daily life. Flexibility is not to be ignored, so incorporate stretches into your routine if you want to see your health improve exponentially.

What is Flexibility?

This question may seem obvious, but while the term is used a lot many people do not know what flexibility is. It is the ability of your joints to move with their full range of motion. This is not to be confused with mobility, which is essentially the degree of your range of motion. Flexibility is needed to bend, walk, lift items, and do other things in life. It decreases with age, so consistent practice of exercises like Bronx Pilates, in a classroom or with a personal trainer Bronx residents vouch for, can help you remain flexible in later years.

Benefits of Being Flexible

Flexibility comes with several benefits, including reducing muscle soreness and improving posture. It also:

·         Improves muscular balance

·         Reduces the risk of injuries

·         Increases the performance of muscles

·         Decreases resistance in muscle tissue

·         Improves nutrient transportation & circulation

·         Increases mobility, or range of motion

·         Reduces degeneration of the joins

·         Relieves lower back pain

·         Relaxes muscles like the hamstrings, pelvic muscles, and hip flexors

·         Decreases fatigue

There are still more advantages of practicing flexibility, not the least of which is the overall good health that comes with better posture. Any personal trainer can, and probably will, incorporate yoga, Pilates, and other exercises that aim to improve flexibility into a workout.

You can incorporate stretching into your daily routine, improving the quality of your workouts and strengthening the joints and muscles. Practicing yoga is a great way to become more flexible because it involves balancing the mind and the body. It tones muscles and even improves your lung capacity.

The next time you think of being flexible as unimportant, think again. Being flexible can get you healthier, stronger, and more able to accomplish the tasks needed in your life.
