Fitness Centers with Daycare Services a Nice Benefit

by Kevin Smith Author

If you’re a fitness buff with children, you know how difficult it can be to juggle everything in your life and still find time to work out, especially if you need someone to watch your kids. Because of that, some fitness centers offer childcare so it’s easier for their members to stick to a workout routine. There’s a fitness center with childcare in Phoenix, AZ. But, before just dropping off your kids at any fitness center with childcare options, you want to make sure of a few things.

Ask Before Leaving Your Kids

  • Is the childcare center regulated by a local authority or the state, as other types of daycare and childcare facilities are?
  • Is the person in charge (or persons) licensed and, if so, have their licenses ever been revoked or suspended?
  • Is the childcare provider carefully vetted by your facility?
  • Is the person running the childcare facility trained and CPR-certified?
  • Have there been any incidents at their childcare facility and what were they?

You also may want to ask if there is an additional charge for the daycare facilities and, if so, how much. Or is it an amenity included automatically with your membership?

Other Considerations

  • How many kids can your facility accommodate at any one time and what age groups will the facility accept? Some may not accept infants, but will allow older kids, perhaps 2 and older. Others are equipped to handle kids from infant up to 12 years old.
  • How long can your child or children be in the childcare facility at any one time? Most gyms have a limit of two hours at a time.
  • Are there organized activities or are the kids just sort of on their own to entertain themselves? Some have activities for one age group, while they show videos for another age group. They may also have fitness activities designed for certain age groups, so while you’re working out, so are the kids. It helps to instill exercise as an important activity at an early age.
  • What happens if your child is hurt while in the facility? Do they have insurance to cover accidents?
  • Is the sign-in and sign-out process a secure one? You don’t want just anyone being able to pick up your child and leave while you’re working out.
  • Is the childcare equipped with a camera so you can watch your child or children on your phone or tablet while working out? This would offer some extra peace of mind for any parent.

fitness center with childcare in Phoenix, AZ, is a smart thing if done right. It’s a way for the center to have a little more leverage over their competitors. But you want to make certain that your kids are in responsible hands and safe while you’re working out. So, do your due diligence before just dropping off the kids at your gym.
