Films To Watch This Passover

by Kosher River Cruise Kosher Tour Operator
This Passover is a great opportunity to spend some time with your family. Other than food and selfies, watching movies and relaxing is a great family activity!

Let’s take a cinematic kosher tour by appreciating these wonderful Jewish motion pictures from the past years. (Spoiler alert: YOU WILL SURELY LOVE THESE!)

Son of Saul

A harrowing yet inspiring motion picture set during World War 2, Laszlo Nemes’ Son of Saul is a story about Saul, a Hungarian-Jewish prisoner in an Auschwitz concentration camp. This masterful cinematic piece shows the thirty-six exhausting hours of Saul’s struggles and courage. It was awarded an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, the first for a Hungarian motion picture.

The film is now available online at Vudu, iTunes, and Prime Video.

Jojo Rabbit

If you want to watch a crowd-pleasing, feel-good film with your family, Jojo Rabbit is the one for you! This is an inspiring story about Jojo, a young adolescent boy in Nazi Germany during the later stages of World War Two.

Based on Christine Leunens’ Caging Skies, the family-friendly film shows the unlikely friendship of Jojo and a Jewish girl who hides inside their home. The funny part of this film is that Jojo’s imaginary best friend is a comical and parodic version of Adolf Hitler.

The Taika Waititi film stars Scarlett Johansson, Rebel Wilson, Sam Rockwell, and newcomer Roman Griffin Davis. The film is available on iTunes, Prime Video, FandangoNow, Google Play, Vudu, and more.

Uncut Gems

A critically acclaimed film with Adam Sandler headlining seems like shooting to the moon, but this is what the infamous Safdie Brothers did with Uncut Gems. Considered as one of the past year’s most under-appreciated films in the awards season, Sandler stars as Howard Ratner, a Jewish jeweler, and gambler, in a character study that will keep you hooked from start to finish.

This critically-acclaimed motion picture has received various awards including the Independent Spirit Award for Best Actor for Sandler and Best Director for the Safdie Brothers.

This gritty and thrilling movie also stars Lakeith Stanfield, Julia Fox, Idina Menzel, Kevin Garnett, and Eric Bogosian. You can watch this film on video-on-demand sites such as Prime Video and iTunes.
