Before you start writing a book, there are various things which must be in your list of consideration. Here, in this article I would like to share few things that I think must be considered before starting to write a novel. However, they are not all of them as the list is so huge that summing it up in one article would make that article no less than a book.

A perfect nice and an extra ordinary story, layered well with plot, characters, drama and a twisted unexpected end and finally two to three months of good use of grammar and vocabulary that would act as cheery on top of the cake and you are done with a perfect bestselling novel. Isn’t it so easy and a successful way? Well, the answer is a big NO. Writing a novel is not just a play of grammar and vocabulary. It is a lot lot and lot more than this. However, there are no hard and fast rules on how to write a novel. These rules are simply a guidance extracted from the experience of various successful authors, over a period of time. These can be molded and manipulated as and when required.

A wise learns from his experience as well as from the experience of the others. So, here are the experienced of few authors on what things must be considered before even starting to write a novel.

Compile all your ideas: Often writers get confused on where and how to start their book. The best solution to this is before starting with your novel decides each and every step involved in writing and publishing of the novel. Collect all your ideas at a place, no matter how absurd an idea is. You never know what may lead you to the door of the success. Compiling the ideas before starting to write is like making a rough path before the pavements. It leads you to destination without any distraction.

For instance, if you have a rough plot of the story then it is easy for you to add descriptions without getting deviated and writing something preposterous.

Outline each chapter: Once you have a rough plot of the complete story, make a rough idea of each and every chapter. Decide how many chapters you want to include in your book and accordingly divide the plot of your story. Keep in mind that with each chapter story must move forward.

Publisher: Doesn’t matter whether you go for traditional book publishing or self publishing, choose your publisher wisely. Your publisher must be one who believes in your idea and book. Look if they have published other books similar to yours. You must have a very clear view of what your publisher thinks about your idea and how will they boost it.
