Before heading to the fashion photography shoot, you must have a clear direction. The purpose here is to have clear shots of what you want to achieve and not to be confused with what you do not want. For instance, if you intend to make a fashion photography photo essay, you do not have to worry about the angle or the lighting. Your assignment is to provide details and a strong point of view. If you are unclear about these things, you may create confusion in the viewer thus causing your photographs to fail.

After you have sorted out your directions, it is now time to decide on what clothes you would like to wear for your photoshoot. Do not be afraid to be daring, because you will be able to reveal a bit of yourself through your choice of attire. This also allows you to experiment a bit with what looks great and what does not. However, make sure that you keep in mind the theme you have planned beforehand.
