Fashion model Joe Ingham is now to set some trends with his own brand, Nurag Clothing.

The 23-year-old Yorkshireman said his project aims to join fashion with art, culture and music.

He launches Nurag at an event in Leeds this Thursday, promising “an immersive presentation” of the collection along with other creative collaborations.

Mr Ingham said his clothing range is based on “simple, clean, chic, luxury basics that aim to make high fashion realistically available”.

He added: “I am extremely excited about launching this collaborative project.

“Having spent six years in the industry, I’ve been lucky to meet and learn from some extraordinarily talented people, and the timing is perfect for the launch of the Nurag brand.”

He designed the clothes himself and worked with a Yorkshire seamstress Liza Violet and Leeds manufacturer Eurostar Clothing to produce the collection.

Mr Ingham told The Yorkshire Post: “I want to showcase the North as a great place for talent. Not everything needs to be in London.”

The range will be on sale at the Allotment in Leeds.

Mr Ingham is from Bradford and studied at the Dixons City Academy, Leeds College of Art and Design and the University of the Arts in London.

He is based at the Hatchery, a start-up centre supported by Entrepreneurial Spark and NatWest.

Nurag has been funded by a £10,000 loan from the Business Enterprise Fund.

The launch event takes place at the Northern Monk Refectory from 7pm.

It will feature a presentation of the first collection, involving projections, spoken word and live art, and collaborations with local creative talent including the independent platform &/OR Emporium, event specialists Lines and Light, art collective Decent Peoples and visual artists The Goat Collective.

There will also be music and refreshments.

The launch event will also raise money for MAP: Music and Art Production through the sale of handmade lookbooks.

The charity delivers courses in art, design and music production for young people outside mainstream education.
