Fake charity organizations
by Shoilen Sannamat SEO ExpertWhenever we hear that someone is sick, hungry or suffering, we naturally feel sympathy and want to help, because it is human instinct to help those in need. Criminals know this, and they try to take advantage of it. Although the majority of volunteer organizations are legal and really do try to help those in need, there are certain "nonprofit charities" that exist solely to make money for themselves. In the last few months, there have been numerous reports of local events in which members of this kind of organization went "door to door" and asked for help for community development or other important reasons. These individuals always have supporting documents to show, and give receipts for your donations. There are two basic
types of criminal charity organizations:
• completely illegal
• formally legal
Illegal charity organizations
You will be contacted by phone or be visited by someone who will ask for help in the form of goods or money. The story is always heart-breaking: war, flood, hunger, poverty…there are many examples. After they tell you their sad story, they will ask for a donation, and there are few who will not give at least some money. However, this money will end up in some crook's pocket, not where it should go.
Legal charity organizations
Legal national and international volunteer organizations accept all types of payment: cash, checks, by credit card. If they are beginners, they will try to persuade you to give cash. The worst situation is when it is supposedly for victims of war or natural disasters, because people are mostly inclined to donate to such causes. During these times, organization development is at its highest. In the case of legal organizations, professionals conduct activities that are formally legal, and there is no way that these individuals can be prosecuted. They will target a smaller community development organization or non-governmental organization that doesn't have much money and get them to sign a partnership agreement.
Such a small organization will not be fully aware of the fraudulent business activities of their partner and never know how much money is actually being invested in local community development as promised or how much they are supposed to receive as their contractual share.
Another way is to forge registration papers for a charity organization and issue receipts and bills that have no value - but people will find out too late.
Many criminals masquerade as members of religious organizations because people are also very gullible when it comes to giving help for religious reasons. The names of such organizations usually involve children and churches.
