Failing To Renovate A Home

by Abhinav G. Movie Enthusiast

The Church defines the Seven Deadly Sins to be pride, envy, lust, anger, gluttony, sloth and greed. You’d be surprised to know that for renovating your home, you don’t need to commit any of these. There are times you will have to ask someone to help out, even though you feel like you can do it yourself. You may find yourself somewhat committing home remodeling sins, though.

All sins come from pride, at least that’s what they say, and by definition it’s just the excessive believe in one’s own abilities. Consumed with pride, you will neglect the most important factors unknowingly and your project will turn out badly. Neglecting to plan at all is the first deadly sin of remodeling, which you can commit. You are doomed to fail without a plan, so don’t be so smug in yourself. Give enough time to research and ask others what they have done and how they have done it. Ask about the cost and the little details.

Though, envy is the desire to get those things as well. We tend to like what the Joneses have, better, faster, and bigger. Envy will get in the way of making the right choices. No matter how exciting it is to make your home the biggest one on the block, it can backfire.

Desiring to consume more than what is necessary is called gluttony. Get what you want, but be sure you are paying a fair price. When you choose to be more competitive and go through a bidding process, the best picks are the ones near the average bid price. Remember, if the price is too good to be true, it probably is, and by falling for such nonsense, you will be allowing your gluttony to come back and haunt you.

Your craving for pleasures is called lust. Although it makes complete sense to remodel your home with personal comfort in mind, it’s not really the best idea to spend all your dollars. You have other priorities in home remodeling that require much attention. Attention you are wasting in personal comfort alone. The repairs should always come first.

Trying to avoid doing work, physical or spiritual, is called sloth. When you are remodeling the house, this is the most important thing to consider. Laziness is a crime, so stick your feet up and research. Think of how much money can you save by understanding how to fix a simple faucet leak. Then, you won’t have to hire anyone at all. If you don’t take the time to inform yourself, you might find yourself at the receiving end of someone else’s pride, envy, gluttony, lust, anger and greed.
